Felipe E.N. Bastrop papers, 1796-1829.

Letters and papers (some copies) pertaining to the land grants of Baron de Bastrop and others in the Quachita River Valley of Louisiana. Papers contain ten letters (certified copies, 1806) exchanged between Bastrop and Baron de Carondelet concerning land grants in the Quachita River basin (1796-1797); a contract (copy) among Baron de Bastrop, Charles Lynch, and Abraham Morehouse; a conveyance transferring land from Edward Livingston to Robert E. Griffith (1809); and a plat of Bastrop's land holdings drawn by Henry Cassidy (1811).

A Dutch contractor who established a colony in what is today Morehouse Parish. He did this at the suggestion of Gov. Carondelet. Bastrop built Point Plantation with large warehouses along Bayou Siard, La.
